Question: Ideas for getting the cheapest last minute airline ticket san diego to new york city?

Sadly, I have an elderly family friend who is expected to pass away in the next few days. I would like to attend the funeral which would happen two or three days later. I really can't afford a full fare ticket. Any suggestions?

It's best to go to a travel agent who you trust and they can find you a cheaper ticket if you did not have time. Restricted tickets are cheaper since they are non-refundable, and valid only for a short period of time.These months are usually considered peak travel time when fares are higher. Otherwise, check Expedia.com, Cheapair.com and as there are direct flights from San Diego to New York. Go directly to the airlines website to book your ticket. It would be easier to talk to the airlines customer service agents than the online agents. Airline companies will charge an extra cost for booking through their reservations agent but you might also find a good deal much more quickly than looking yourself. Airlines will only issue bereavement tickets if you were an immediate family member. Documents have to be submitted. So ask your travel agent.
